About Starlight
It is a mod that you can obtain its Forge or Fabric version right now. It helps you get rid of lighting performance and lighting issues.
Compatibility
It’s possible for you to install the present mod either on the dedicated server or client. Meanwhile, it does not require you to install it on both sides.
In case you have it on the server, clients can utilize Vanilla/Starlight to join.
Similar to that, if you have the edition on the client, you can take part in Vanilla/Starlight servers.

It is a rather destructive light engine rework. Therefore, it should be expected to break mods more frequently.
Purpose
The developer created it for higher scale dedicated servers. They faced performance problems because of how slow the light engine was.
The only answer was to set a very invasive mod that remade the whole light engine.
The owner ported the mod to fabric. So, he can update it during snapshots.
He determined that publishing the release for every user, especially client customers, would be favorable.
But, it has the downside when being an invasive mod. It didn’t influence higher-scale servers because they work on Bukkit.
