Hooked [Forge] Mod 1.12.2 offers a useful alternative to creative flight. It adds to the game a few new tools, including Terraria-styled hooks and grappling hooks.
What is Hooked?
It’s a practical replacement for creative flight in the form of grappling hooks. Not only that, it’s a simple, natural, and functional design.
It’s simple because the following reasons:
hooks move in a completely straight line if you launch them
hooks will pull you toward them with a constant force
throwing the hooks will not require keeping any item. Instead, it will be a bauble bound to a key to instantly access
launching hooks from walls will need a tap of the Spacebar
It’s natural because:
the controls allow the device to be a natural piece of how you move through the world, as a sneak key
hooks don’t drop while they are in the air. So, it’s unessential to line up every shot which increases the automaticity when using it.
It’s helpful since:
Hooked grants options for everything without worrying about the terrors it has (ender hook, glancing hit on the ceiling, fast release, repeat)
friendly to manage. Hence, you can deploy the tool wherever at any time.
hooks don’t have durability so you can enjoy whichever in your world
while controlling a hook, it won’t affect your mining speed, different from flying.
hooks are simulated client and server-side like normal movement. A laggy connection will not cause too many problems.
Variants
Hooks will come up with the following variants:
Wood hook – common but better than nothing in the very early game
Iron hook – quite good and cheap with a cost totaling 13 iron and 2 sticks
Diamond hook – the best common-purpose hook in the mod. It’s rapid and long enough to meet suitable demands in reasonable spots.
Ender hook – one of the two diamond hook sidegrades.
Red hook – the second diamond hook sidegrade. Its movement is similar to creative flight. Unfortunately, it’s limited to the bounds determined by the hooks attached. 1 hook = vertical column, 2 = line, 3 = triangle, 4 = tetrahedron.

- machine rooms
- your creeper-scarred base
Hanging above machines to:
- get an overview and observe what you have completed
- check your factory
- avoid falling into the crusher
- immerse yourself in the glory of the factory
Locking yourself in a position to evade:
- staying in place in the flowing water
- mobs from knocking you in Roguelike Dungeons
- explosions from tossing you into the mid-air
Grappling to walls to:
- quickly mine ores from ravines
- climb up mounts
- move as a Spider-Man
- run dire-wire through the room throughout 4 dimensions of spacetime
