Name Tag Tweaks Mod 1.18.2/1.17.1/1.16.5 adds some small changes to Minecraft’s name tag item. This causes a defeated entity to release its name tag.

Your gaming experience will get more interesting thanks to the Miscellaneous mod – Name Tag Tweaks. The name of the mod said itself! It adds nothing but just some small tweaks to the name tag item. Now, the entities on death will release their name tags if they have a custom name. Besides this feature, the mod also adds a command that is used for changing the value of the name tag. The great thing is that you don’t need to have an anvil to change it. Also, it comes with a crafting recipe.
Here are the configurable commands to use in the mod:
- droppedNameTagbyEntityKeepsNameValue (default = true): If you turn on this option, when an entity releases a name tag on death, its named value will be kept.
- enableNameTagCommand (default = true): When you turn this option on, you will add the /nametag command. You use it to alter the name value without using an anvil.
- nameTagCommandReplaceUnderscoresWithSpaces (default = true): Once this option is on, the spaces will be used as an alternative to underscores when you utilize the /nametag command.
To launch Name Tag Tweaks into the game, you have to install Minecraft Forge and a library mod called Collective.
