Spawn Normalization Mod 1.16.5

Spawn Normalization 1.16.5 is a mod that can change spawn y-level selection algorithms. It’s free to search for how it affects the spawning of mobs.

How does Spawn Normalization work?

Here is the way that the mod operates.

In Minecraft, if mobs are going to spawn into the world, they must have a suitable position to start. In other words, choose a random x/y position within a chunk and select a y-level within that column.

By default, the y-level is chosen in the same manner from every possible y-level. And, from zero to the present highest blocks in that column. That causes some problems due to a few reasons as follows:

Almost all y-levels within that column will not be fitting spawn space.

Spawning is slow as a result of these unsuccessful efforts.

Mob farms are only effective once their top block is at or close to y=0.

For instance, you owned a skyblock world and you were living at y=65. So, mobs could have a 1/66 chance to pick your platform to appear on. Hence, you need to wait longer for mobs to create. That makes your experience tedious.

Solution

Fortunately, it’s possible for us to reset the curves at which certain y-levels are picked. We can do that by using math.

You’ll be able to opt for a specific spawn algorithm from a list of defaults and utilize that rather than the vanilla one.

Algorithms that you receive from Spawn Normalization are visible in an image.

Estimates are complete with a height level of 65. Nevertheless, their curves can relate to how likely a y-level is to be selected.

Vanilla has an identical probability for every height level.

Surface Pref

Owns a much higher probability to pick out the surface. It comes with a higher than normal probability to set areas near the surface. It drops to lower than vanilla probabilities after around 55% max height level.

Skyblock

Includes high preferences towards levels that are at or above 60% max height level. It has a nearly zero percent chance to decide values below 30% max height.

Two Layer

It goes with a high probability to take levels near the surface. But, it contains a high probability to determine a secondary zone at approximately 33% max height. It’s for surface spawns and deep cave spawns.

Surface Only

Detaches all spawns to the surface level or blocks around. Water mobs can spawn after that.

Curves

It’s feasible to invert them. So, you can know the opposite effects relative to the height level.

It means that the y level could turn into (max height – y) instead of (y). Therefore, the inversion of Surface Only would only go for levels surrounding bedrock. Additionally, the inverse of Skyblock would get a much higher probability to single out levels around bedrock.

Spawn Normalization is a server utility mod. It can adjust spawn y-level selection algorithms.
